Reward for tips on murder of Dutch woman
Colombian police are offering a reward of €9,000 for information about the murder of a Dutch woman at the weekend.
The 54-year-old Durdana de Bruijn was murdered on the yacht the Lazy Duck off the coast of Colombia.
Her husband told police they were attacked by a gang of six men. He was knocked out and when he came to he found his wife dead on the deck, apparently beaten to death with a blunt instrument.
Police are asking for witnesses to come forward because the husband’s statement is confusing, according to the Telegraaf. The motive for the attack was robbery, but only a small amount of money was taken. Jewellery, a computer and video cameras were left behind.
Police also want to know why the woman used a mobile phone to call for help when the yacht is fitted with modern communication equipment. She also gave the wrong location in her first call.
The husband was questioned in Cartagena where he is being supported by the Dutch consulate.
