Three members of the same family appear to have been murdered at a terraced house in Veghel, police said on Tuesday evening.

The grizzly find was made by police who discovered the bodies of two adults and a child. A young man has been arrested on charges of killing his mother, grandmother and sister.

Locals said a woman, her mother and two children lived in the property in a quiet street of terraced houses. Police were alerted by another member of the family who tried to gain access to the house on Tuesday afternoon.

Forensic officers have begun an investigation.

Veghel is a small town south east of De Bosch and south west of Nijmegen. It has a population of around 31,000.
