MH17 victims’ phones and cameras to be returned to families
Telephones, laptops, cameras and other electronic equipment belonging to victims of flight MH17 are to be returned to their relatives, the public prosecution department said on Tuesday.
The equipment has been checked to see if there is any useful information about the crash, and that work has now been completed, the department said. The task was made more difficult because many of the phones and tablets were damaged in the crash or were locked with passwords.
Flight MH17 was brought down by a missile over eastern Ukraine in July 2014. All 298 people on board were killed. Most were Dutch nationals.
The Netherlands is in charge of the investigation into the crash.
