Left-handed or right-handed makes little difference
Left-handed people are no more likely to be creative than right-handed people, but ambidextrous people are more creative, according to researchers at Groningen University.
The researchers looked at the myths surrounding being left-handed and studied information taken from 25,000 people to draw their conclusions.
‘We thought it made a difference which hand you use,’ researcher Ton Groothuis told nu.nl. ‘But we have discovered there is hardly any difference. The strength of the hand you choose is more important.’
The strength of the hand of choice does relate to certain characteristics such as creativity and health, the research shows. But the biggest differences come from how ambidextrous a person is.
‘Even more interesting is to look at whether it matters how well you do things with a particular hand,’ Groothuis said, adding that this is the subject of the next study.
