Fewer companies fined for breaking labour laws last year
Dutch employers were handed down 2,538 fines last year following complaints about working conditions, website Nu.nl said on Thursday.
The figure is down sharply on 2013’s total of 4,120 fines, Nu.nl said. Most of the fines were for not complying with official working times, breaking minimum wage legislation and employing people without proper residency permits.
Of the total, 15 complaints were so serious that the public prosecution department is looking into them, Nu.nl said.
