Eindhoven Airport fastest grower
Eindhoven Airport is the Netherlands’ fastest growing airport, RTL News reports on Wednesday.
According to figures from the national statistics office CBS, the airport increased its passenger flow by 9% between April and June compared to the same quarter last year, taking the number to 1.3 million.
More passengers are using the airport for intercontinental flights which, the CBS says, do not form a huge part of the airport’s traffic but which has seen ‘significant growth’.
Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport showed a 6.1% increase, closely followed by Rotterdam The Hague Airport with 5.9%.
Overall, 17.4 million people came through the Dutch airports in the second quarter of this year, an increase of 6.2% compared to last year.
The only airport that is not prospering is Maastricht Airport. Passenger numbers were down 11.5% compared to the same period last year. The airport has been struggling for the last six years due to a lack of destinations, RTL says.
