Broken-down goods train disrupts Utrecht railway services

strike trainServices to and from Utrecht’s central station were cancelled on Friday afternoon because of a broken-down goods train.

Dutch railway company NS said services will not be resumed before the evening rush hour.

Buses are being used to take passengers to Amsterdam Zuid and Den Bosch stations and travellers are being warned to expect long delays.

The goods train first has to be removed so officials can assess the damage to electricity supplies, a spokesman for track operator ProRail told news agency ANP.
