Riot police break up crowd trouble at Vitesse-Southampton match

Some 60 football fans, mainly Vitesse supporters, were arrested in Arnhem on Thursday night when trouble broke out between rival groups of fans before the game against Southampton, news agency ANP says.

Riot police, some on horseback, were called out to intervene after fighting started in the city centre’s Korenmarkt, where there are lots of bars and where fans had been drinking.

One police officer was injured in the fighting.

Southampton won the game 2-0 thanks to goals from Graziano Pelle and Sadio Mane and now proceed to the play-offs of the Europa league.
