Young pimp in teenage prostitute case jailed for two years
A 21-year-old man accused of encouraging a 16-year-old girl to prostitute herself in Limburg has been jailed for two years by judges in Maastricht.
Armin A was found guilty of trafficking the girl by manipulating her and making her dependent upon him. He also removed her from her parent’s supervision, the court said in a statement.
A rented the rooms at two Valkenburg hotels where the girl operated and made appointments with clients. The court said A had failed to show remorse or to realise what an impact his actions had on the girl and he was also ordered to pay her €2,500 compensation.
On Wednesday it emerged a total of 29 men will appear in court in Maastricht charged with the sexual abuse of the girl in the two hotels in Valkenburg. In January, the department said up to 80 men could face charges in connection with the case.
The men face jail terms of up to 12 years, even if they believed the girl was at least 18 – the minimum age to work as a prostitute in the Netherlands. Two of the men have since committed suicide.
