US outlet chain TJ Maxx to open in two Dutch cities
US outlet chain TJ Maxx is to open stores in Rotterdam and Eindhoven this autumn, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Monday.
It is the second time the company will try to gain a foothold in the Dutch market, following an earlier attempt between 1999 and 2001.
Although the attempt failed, TJ Maxx did pave the way for other outlet centres such as Batavia which opened in Lelystad in 2001.
The new openings in the Netherlands are part of the company’s global expansion. It already has outlets in six overseas countries and is adding Austria and the Netherlands this year, where the stores will bear the names TK Maxx and HomeSense.
TJ Max saw net sales of $29.1bn in 2014.
