Paedophile swimming teacher to move house
Convicted paedophile swimming teacher Benno L, whose home in Leiden was at the centre of demonstrations last year, is moving house, a council spokesman confirmed on Friday.
The spokesman would not comment on when he is moving or where he will go, the Telegraaf reports.
Benno L was jailed in 2010 for abusing a number of girls in his care but is now on supervised release. He was banned from visiting ten different local authority areas where his victims live, including Den Bosch and Tilburg. He also wears an electronic tagging device.
His home in Leiden was surrounded by several dozen people in February, calling for him to be moved out of the city. Protestors also started a Facebook campaign against him.
On Thursday, local paper Brabants Dagblad said L’s tagging device is being removed. According to the public prosecutor, this is in line with ‘his gradual transition to the final unconditional release’.
