Wait and see for Dutch women as they draw against Canada at World Cup
The Dutch women’s football team drew 1-1 against hosts Canada at the women’s World Cup on Monday night, leaving them well placed to qualify for the knock-out rounds as a best third place.
Canada scored early on in the match and the Dutch goal, from substitute Kirsten Van De Ven, came with three minutes remaining on the clock.
The Oranje Lionesses have four points from three matches in Group A and whether or not they progress depends on the other final group matches later on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sixteen of the 24 teams go through to the next stage: the top two in each group and four best third place teams.
