Philips signs mega-deal with US hospital
Dutch electronics giant Philips on Tuesday announced it has signed a deal worth $500m to supply medical equipment to a US hospital.
The agreement with the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), which covers a 15-year period, covers not only the medical equipment but also the accompanying services.
Philips already has a number of these dual contracts in the Netherlands but this is one of the first to be signed in the US.
WMCHealth serves three million people to the north west of New York City and is the regional provider of complex medical and surgical treatments.
Philips and WMCHealth will work together on the provision of acute care, prevention and health care at a distance, known as telehealth.
