OECD says Dutch economy will grow 2% this year

The Dutch economy will grow by 2% in 2015 and 2.2% in 2016, the OECD said on Wednesday in a new report.

At the same time, real wage gains will support higher private consumption, while the improved business outlook and the ongoing recovery of the housing market will support investment.

Exports, the main motor of the Dutch economy, are set to continue to increase steadily, boosted by the recovery in the European Union and the low value of the euro, the OECD said.

The Paris based organisation recommends further reforming employment protection, which it says would support job creation.

The OECD is more optimistic than the Dutch government’s own macro-economic forecaster CPB which says the economy will grow 1.6% this year and 1.8% in 2016.
