Dutch dairy giant FrieslandCampina cuts up to 375 jobs
Dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina is cutting 375 jobs at its operations in Beilen and Leeuwarden, the company said on Thursday.
The job cuts are needed to boost productivity and cut costs, the company said in a statement.
Most jobs will go in Beilen where FrieslandCampina produces baby food and where the workforce will be slashed by around one-quarter. Most of those losing their jobs are on temporary or short-term contracts, the Financieele Dagblad reports.
The Leeuwarden plant focuses on the production of condensed milk for the Middle East and Africa.
Production at both plants has been modernised and expanded in recent years in anticipation of the ending of milk quotas, the paper says.
