Deurne jeweller’s wife, who killed two robbers, to face court
A jeweller’s wife who shot dead two robbers is to face a court hearing to explain exactly what happened.
Family of the two men she killed are taking legal action themselves because the public prosecution department ruled the woman acted in self-defence.
The relatives disagree with that decision and have lodged a complaint, known as an article 12 procedure. The procedure allows people to compel the public prosecutor to prosecute the case.
The bungled robbery took place in the Brabant village of Deurne in March last year. This April, the jeweller was given 100 hours community service and a six months suspended jail sentence for owning an illegal weapon.
