Electricity prices fell 20% last year
The price of electricity fell 20% last year, national grid company Tennet said on Monday.
The average price of a megawatt of electricity was €52 in 2013 but fell to €41 last year, Tennet says.
Prices have gone down for a variety of reasons, including cheaper gas supplies and the opening of three new coal-fired power stations.
In addition, a lot of cheaper power was imported from Norway and Germany, Tennet said.
