Dutch millionaires’ assets return to pre-crisis levels
Dutch millionaires’ assets have now returned to their 2008 level, according to research by private bank Van Lanschot.
Last year, Dutch millionaires had an average of €2.9m, the same as before the economic crisis, the research found.
Millionaires are also more positive about the economy. Last year, 46% expected the economy to improve, compared with just 28% in 2013. Nevertheless, one-third say they expect their children to be worse off financially than they themselves are.
The report considers a millionaire to be someone with assets of at least €1m, excluding the value of any property. The Netherlands has some 98,000 households which meet this definition, or 1.3% of the total. The average Dutch household has assets of €56,000.
