Police ignore phones, close stations in pay and conditions action

Cordon tape from policePolice in The Hague will not answer their service number 0900-8844 on Friday between 09.00 and 12.00 hours, police union ACP said on Tuesday.

Instead, the union is calling police personnel to a meeting to discuss its outstanding claim for a new pay and conditions agreement. The police have not had a pay rise for four years.

During the meeting, the police will discuss the work pressure they are under and the possibility of further action. The union hopes other police units will call similar meetings on April 28 and 29.

The police are also taking action on Thursday when police stations will close their doors for two hours. During this time no complaints will be processed, but officers will be available for emergency help.

Between 09.00 and 11.00 hours police stations in Noord-Nederland, Oost-Nederland, Midden-Nederland, Oost-Brabant and Limburg will be closed. Between 13.00 and 15.00 hours units in Noord-Holland, Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Zeeland-West Brabant will close.
