Pimp faces reduced charges in Limburg teenage prostitution case
A 16-year-old girl found working as a prostitute at a hotel in Limburg was not forced to do so, and her pimp will no longer face forced prostitution charges, according to local media.
Nor will the 21-year-old, named as Armin A, be charged with being present during the abuse of a minor or removing the girl from the authority of her parents, the media reports state.
In January, the department said up to 80 men could face charges in connection with the case. The girl disappeared from her home in October last year and was found by police having sex with a man in a Valkenburg motel in December.
The men face jail terms of up to 12 years, even if they believed the girl was at least 18 – the minimum age to work as a prostitute in the Netherlands. Two of the men have since committed suicide.
Armin A is due to appear in court on Monday for a procedural hearing when it will become clearer exactly what charges he now faces.
