Eredivise round-up: PSV zoom in on title, Ajax draw away to Utrecht
Ajax lost more ground on Eredivisie leaders PSV on Sunday after they were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Utrecht.
A later equaliser by substitute Gevero Markiet denied Ajax victory at the Galgenwaard stadium. It is now six years since the Amsterdammers had an away win over Utrecht.
The draw means the gap between title holders Ajax and league leaders PSV Eindhoven has widened still further. PSV beat FC Twente 0-5, taking them to a 10 point lead over Ajax with five matches to go.
If Philip Cocu’s team beat Zwolle next weekend and Ajax lose to Heracles Almelo a day later, the team from Eindhoven will have clinched the title for the first time since 2008.
Feyenoord remains in third place with a 1- 4 win over AZ of Alkmaar, who remain seven points behind the Rotterdammers in fourth place.
