Dutch girl Isa, at centre of get well card appeal, dies
A terminally ill three-year-old Dutch girl whose last wish was to get lots of postcards has died, local broadcaster Omroep Gelderland said on Thursday.
Isa had an aggressive brain tumour and just days to live when her parents made an appeal to members of the public to send cards to her and her sister Suus, who is eight.
Since then, over 52,000 cards have been delivered to her home in Winterswijk, Omroep Gelderland said. The cards have come from all over the Netherlands as well as Britain, Canada, Belgium and France.
The hashtag #postvoorisa also went viral.
The broadcaster says Isa’s funeral took place on Wednesday. Her family have asked people to stop sending cards and instead donate money to the CliniClowns organisation, which helps cheer up sick children in hospital.
