Weekly magazine Elsevier put up for sale
Publishing house Reed Elsevier is looking for a buyer for its weekly news magazine Elsevier, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Thursday.
According to the paper, which bases its report on sources from the financial and media sectors, possible buyers are the Persgroep, Telegraaf Media Groep and the FD Mediagroep.
The sale process is still in its early stages, the FD says, but is sensitive because of the link between the publication’s title and the name of the publishing company. However, Reed Elsevier recently announced a change of name to RELX.
The company would not comment, the FD says.
According to KBC Securities, Reed Elsevier has made an impressive rally in the past three years but misses the so-called catalysators to push its course in the short-term. KBC Securities has lowered its advice on the company’s shares to ‘hold’, sending shares up to €23.48.
