Mora croquettes remain in private equity hands
British private equity group TowerBrook has taken a majority stake in Dutch croquette maker Van Geloven.
Van Geloven owns the popular Mora brand of croquettes and other fried snacks and was founded in 1960. Private equity firms Lion Capital and Avedon Capital Partners are selling their shares in the firm. Financial details were not disclosed but the Van Geloven management retain their minority shareholding.
A merger with sector peer Royaan, which owns the Van Dobben and Kwekkeboom croquette brands collapsed in 2012.
Van Geloven chief executive Peter Doodeman said in a statement the new owner is prepared to invest a considerable sum in the company and that this offers it opportunities to expand in Europe.
The company has 900 workers and turned over almost €200m last year.
