House sales continue to rise, up 23% in February
The number of homes changing hands in February was up over 23% on January and 16.6% on a year ago, providing further evidence of a recovery in the housing market.
The land registry office (kadaster) said on Tuesday that 11,697 homes were sold in February. Semi-detached houses were the most popular with an increase of 36%, while sales of apartments only increased by 5%.
The number of house sales forced because owners were unable to pay their mortgages rose slightly to 155 compared with 132 a year earlier.
