Amsterdam’s Keizersgracht has the most houses worth over €1m
The Keizersgracht in Amsterdam has 255 houses worth over €1m, making it the most expensive street in the Netherlands.
Next on the list of streets with high numbers of €lm houses are the Prinsengracht (199), the Herengracht (132), the Van Breestraat (119), the Johannes Verhulststraat (104) and the Willemsparkweg (83), according to property specialist Calcasa and quoted in the Parool.
Amsterdam as a whole has 3,750 €lm houses, with the rise in the number of expensive homes particularly steep in the city centre and in Amsterdam-Zuid, Calcasa says.
The company also looked at the Netherlands’ most expensive houses by neighbourhood. Amsterdam’s Museum Quarter has the most with 900, followed by Bilthoven-Noord with 750.
Value
The biggest house price rise in 2014 was in Greater Amsterdam, where prices for the most expensive homes rose 8.6%.
However, buyers in the capital get the least value for money, with €lm buying an average 220 square metres. In Arnhem and Nijmegen, the same amount buys 420 square metres, Calcasa says.
In the country as a whole, there are 32,000 houses worth over €lm. The Konijnenlaan in Wassenaar has the most expensive street houses in the country.
