Cheese hit hardest by Russian sanctions
Dutch cheese has been hardest hit by the Russian sanctions introduced in August 2014, the central statistics agency CBS said on Thursday.
Between 2009 and 2013, cheese exports to Russia trebled to €233m a year. Since the sanctions were imposed they have dropped to €96m.
Russia introduced sanctions on fish, meat, dairy products, fruit and vegetables following European Union sanctions imposed because of the war in Ukraine.
The total export value of goods from the Netherlands to Russia dropped 8% to €2.2bn between August and November 2014, the CBS said.
