Dutch house sales rose by 30% last year, prices were up 3.5%
The number of houses changing hands last year was up 30% on 2013 and the average price was up 3.5% at €215,000, the Dutch real estate agents’ association NVM said on Thursday.
In total, NVM-affiliated agents sold 116,623 apartments and houses in 2014 but the total market volume is likely to be 156,500, the organisation said.
‘The crisis period of low sales and falling prices is definitely behind us,’ NVM chairman Ger Hukker said in a statement. Hukker expects a further 5-10% rise in transactions this year but warns that political instability could again unsettle the market.
Last week mortgage data network HDN said the number of requests for mortgages made last year had gone up 50% to 225,804.
