Three Dutch clubs to take part in Europa League knock-out draw

europa league logoRotterdam football club Feyenoord proceeds into the knock-out stage of the Europa League as group champions after a 3-0 away win over Standard Liege on Thursday night.

The Rotterdammers finished one point ahead of defending champions Sevilla, taking 12 points from six games to lead group G.

PSV Eindhoven, who were already assured of a knock-out stage place, lost their final group match 0-1 at home to Dinamo Moscow with the only goal coming in the 90th minute. Dinamo win group E with a clean sweep in six games.

Coach Philip Cocu took advantage of the qualification to rest a number of key players and Luuk de Jong, Luciano Narsingh, Jeffrey Bruma, Santiago Arias, Jeroen Zoet and Georginio Wijnaldum all started on the bench.

Thursday night’s games complete the line-up for the round of 32 draw, which will take place on Monday. The addition of Amsterdam football club Ajax, now out of the Champions League, means three Dutch teams will be involved.
