Jumbo supermarkets boost sales 3.5% in 2014
Supermarket group Jumbo booked a 26% increase in sales this year, taking total turnover to €4.8bn, the company is quoted as saying by news agency ANP on Tuesday.
The increase is largely due to a rise in the number of Jumbo stores, which went up from 391 to 499 over the year. Sales at existing stores rose 3.5%.
The company is in the process of converting its C1000 supermarkets into Jumbo outlets. Their number has gone down from 267 to 124.
Including the remaining C1000 stores, total Jumbo group sales reached €6.8bn, giving the company 20% of the Dutch market.
