Feyenoord qualify for Europa League knock-out round, PSV still unsure
Rotterdam football club Feyenoord qualified for the knock-out stage of the Europa League in convincing style on Thursday night with a 2-0 home win against title holders Seville. Standard Luik lost 2-0 to HNK Rijeka, putting the Rotterdammers in an unbeatable position in Group G.
Jens Toornstra and Karim el Ahmadi scored the Dutch goals.
The other match involving PSV Eindhoven against Portugal’s Estoril in Group E was abandoned after the first half when a massive downpour made the pitch unplayable. PSV was down 3-2. The second half will be played on Friday evening at 17.00.
PSV and Feyenoord are due to meet in a key Dutch league match on Sunday and the Dutch football association still has to decide if this can go ahead. Officially there should be 48 hours between the matches.
PSV wants the Feyenoord match to be postponed to another date.
