Scheveningen pier told to Easyhotel franchiser and building firm, to reopen next year
Scheveningen’s derelict pier has been sold to a hotel group and property developer for €3m, the Telegraaf said on Tuesday.
Hotel company Danzep, the master franchise holder for the Easyhotel group in the Benelux, and building firm Kondor Wessels plan to renovate the pier this winter, the paper said.
The pier will reopen next year with shops, cafes, events locations and a cultural space but there will be no casino because the council has refused a permit.
The buyers plan to run the pier in this way for at least five years but also intend to discuss a more permanent future with locals, councils and other companies, the Telegraaf reported.
There are no yet any concrete plans to open a hotel on the pier but drawings have been made for a redevelopment including holiday homes, a hotel and residential property, the paper said.
