Dutch F16s in action for first time
Two Dutch F16s have destroyed IS armed vehicles engaged in combat with Kurdish fighters in the north of Iraq, the defence ministry said on Tuesday.
A total of three bombs landed on the targets, defence ministry officials said. It is not yet clear whether any IS militants were killed.
It is the first time the Dutch fighter jets have been taking part in active bombing.
The Netherlands has sent six active F-16s and two reserves jets to take part in the anti-IS campaign in Iraq. The Dutch contribution also consists of 250 support staff for the fighter jets and 130 officials to train local soldiers.
