Surprise! 80% of primary school kids want to use tablets in class
Just 20% of Dutch primary schools currently use tablets as a teaching aid but a survey for Nos children’s news programme shows 80% of pupils think they should be used much more often.
The research shows 84% of children have access to a tablet at home and 60% have a smart phone. Nos does not say how many children were questioned.
In almost seven out of 10 schools which use tablets, the teacher is the only person who can place an app on the device – making it less likely games will be more popular than lessons, Nos points out.
The Netherlands has several so-called Steve Jobs schools, where tablets have replaced traditional methods of education.
