More human remains from flight MH17 on the way home
More human remains of the victims of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash in Ukraine will be flown back to the Netherlands on Monday afternoon.
Members of the international team searching for the remaining bodies of those killed when the Boeing 777 crashed on July 17 have been at the site all weekend and returned on Monday morning to continue the search.
Monday sees the first time Malaysian experts have joined the team, which includes 54 Dutch and 34 Australian forensic experts, according to the NRC.
Ritual
The human remains found on Friday and Saturday, together with those from a mortuary in Donetsk, will be flown back to the Netherlands on Monday following the same ritual as the five earlier flights.
The military plane carrying the coffins will land at Eindhoven airport and the coffins will be taken in a procession of hearses to Hilversum, where a team of Dutch experts are carrying out the task of identification.
So far two bodies have been identified.
Flowers
Meanwhile, the sea of flowers and cuddly toys laid outside departure hall 3 at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport was moved on Sunday night because space was running out.
Nos reporter Colette van Nunen told the broadcaster that each bouquet was inspected and those that were wilted thrown away. ‘But all the cards were kept and have been moved with the other flowers,’ she said.
The flowers, gifts and cards are now in an area underneath the World Trade Centre where they are out of the weather. The condoleance book has also been moved to the new location.
