Feyenoord to play Europa League match in Kiev
Rotterdam football club Feyenoord will play their first play-off match in the Europa League against Zorya Lugansk in Kiev.
The European football association UEFA has given permission for the match to be moved from Lugansk in eastern Ukraine, but not for Feyenoord to play the away match outside Ukraine.
The dates for the play-offs have been reversed. The away fixture will be on August 21, with the home match in Rotterdam on August 28.
Technical director Martin van Geel said on the club’s website that it is uncomfortable to play in Kiev but he is happy the dates have been reversed. ‘It is better for the players to have the decisive match on home ground.’ he said.
