Dutch firms to build floating hotel in fjord
Two Dutch companies are to build a floating hotel in a fjord in Norway, the Parool reports.
Architecture bureau Waterstudio from The Hague and developer Dutch Docklands from Delft will build the floating structure in a fjord near the Norwegian town of Tromsø.
It will have the shape of a snowflake and offer 86 rooms costing around €300 a night.
The structure, which will be mainly of glass, will not adversely affect the environment, Waterstudio’s Koen Wolthuis told the Parool. ‘Sun and wind energy will provide the hotel with heating and lighting,’ he said.
The hotel is due to open in 2016.
