Product safety body warns parents about Oranje novelties

The product safety body NVWA has warned parents not to let young children play with orange novelties after several products were found to be unsafe.

The football-supporting toy hamsters given away by Albert Heijn and the samba balls sold by Hema could both lead children to choke, the NVWA says.

And a tooter in the form of an orange bottle widely available at toy shops and other stores has also been branded a danger because of loose parts.

Sales of Oranje novelties have reached record levels ahead of Saturday night’s World Cup quarter-final between the Netherlands and Costa Rica.
