Avoid Amsterdam ring road this weekend, motorists told
Motoring organisations are warning drivers to avoid Amsterdam this weekend because of major work on the city’s ring road.
The western Coen tunnel under the IJ will be closed from Wednesday evening until early on Monday for essential widening work, causing major delays. The tunnel is a main source of ring road traffic jams.
The closure coincides with work on the Piet Hein tunnel which links the city centre to the eastern stretch of the ring road and has been closed since July 5. It will remain shut until August 1 for resurfacing work.
