Polish nationalist says Le Pen, not Wilders, pulled plug on alliance
Polish nationalist Janusz Korwin-Mikke says it is the Front National’s Marine le Pen, not the PVV’s Geert Wilders, who pulled the plug on his party joining the anti-EU alliance in Brussels.
Korwin-Mikke told Dutch television show Nieuwsuur that Wilders had no problem working with him. It was Le Pen who suddenly found him to be too extreme, Nieuwsuur quoted him as saying.
‘Yesterday [Monday] everyone assumed the alliance would go through. But Le Pen suddenly thought we were too extreme.’
Pass
Wilders was at the European parliament on Monday to pick up his MEP’s pass. On Tuesday he announced he would not take his seat in Brussels because of the collapse of the alliance.
Wilders said he had broken off the pending alliance with Korwin-Mikke’s KNP because of his views. Nos reported that the KNP was still angry about the PVV’s ‘problem with Poles’ hotline.
Korwin-Mikke opposes gay marriage and would remove women’s right to vote because they are ‘not as clever as men’.
