ABN Amro scraps one hundred jobs

Nationalised bank ABN Amro said on Tuesday it is reorganising its Markets department with the loss of one hundred jobs.

Markets deals with share transactions and the sale of complex financial products such as derivatives.

Fifty of the jobs will go in Markets and 50 in supporting departments, the bank said.

The reorganisation is necessary because the department’s results are under pressure. According to the bank, this is because of increasing regulation, changing customer needs and the high cost of new technology.
