School final exams begin
Tens of thousands of secondary school pupils begin their final exams on Monday, kicking off with tests in Dutch, art and management & organisation.
In total, 56,000 pupils at pre-college schools (havo) and 37,000 in pre-university streams (vwo) hope to finish school this year. On Tuesday, the exam period starts for 105,000 pupils at trade schools (vmbo).
The school pupils’ union (Laks) opens its traditional exam complaint hotline at 12.00. Last year the hotline received 143,000 complaints. Most were made about the vwo Dutch exam which pupils said was too difficult.
The exam period runs until May 27 and the results are announced two weeks later.
