One in 10 of the Dutch thinks immigration is a big issue for Europe
One in 10 Dutch people considers immigration one of the most pressing issues facing the European Union at the moment, compared with 16% of Europeans as a whole, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey.
The survey involved over 1,000 people in the Netherlands and nearly 28,000 in the EU as a whole.
Top issues for the Dutch are the economic situation, cited by 55%, and unemployment, listed by 38%. People were asked to pick two issues from a long list. The environment and climate change were mentioned by 3% and 5% respectively.
The Dutch were also more likely to trust the European Union, national goverment and their national parliament than the European average. One in five of the Dutch thinks the Netherlands would be better off out of the EU compared with 32% in the EU as a whole.
