Dutch gymnast Epke Zonderland on Sunday won the gold medal in the high bar at the European championships in Sofia, successfully defending the title he won four years ago.

Zonderland’s main rival was Germany’s Fabian Hambüchen, who had a bad fall before it was the Dutchman’s turn.

Zonderland, who is also reigning Olympic champion on the high bar, also won bronze in the parallel bars.
