In total, 570 people died in traffic accidents last year, a drop of 80 on 2012, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.

Fewer car passengers, cyclists and pedestrians were killed but there was a rise in the death rate among moped and mobility scooter users.

The number of road accident deaths has almost halved since the beginning of this century, when the total was around 1,100, news agency ANP said.
