Dog walker murder may have been mistaken identity, police say

A man shot dead at close range while out walking his dog in Berkel en Rodenrijs at the beginning of January may have been the victim of mistaken identity, police said on Wednesday.

Rob Zweekhorst, 44, was head of personnel at health board GGZ InGeest which operates in Amsterdam and its surroundings. He was shot by someone wearing a hoodie who vanished without trace.

The police investigation has turned up nothing in Zweekhorst’s private or working life which might indicate he was in any trouble, news agency ANP reports.

Police told a television crime show Zweekhorst say may have been mistaken for someone involved in ‘financial crime’ but declined to give further information.
