Police publish ‘most wanted’ list of British criminals in Holland
British police have launched a publicity campaign in the Netherlands in an effort to track down eight known criminals thought to be living in the country.
The operation was launched in consultation with the Dutch public prosecution department and national police force. Britain’s National Crime Agency thinks most of them are in the Amsterdam area.
The wanted men include drug smugglers, gun runners and a rapist.
‘Many believe they can use the Netherlands as a base to continue their illegal activities, which still have an impact on Britain, but they are finding out that it is not a safe haven,’ NCA international operations chief Hank Cole told the Daily Express newspaper.
Last year alone, 20 fugitives were captured in the Netherlands and taken back to Britain to face prosecution, Cole said.
