Dutch farm sector has grown since 2009
The Dutch farming sector is the only domestic industry to have shown growth since 2009, BNR radio said on Monday, quoting ING research.
The growth is largely because farmers have been able to charge higher prices for their products.
In particular, farmers have benefited from demand for grain and dairy products in India, China, Brazil, Argentina and other growth countries, researcher Cor Bruns is quoted as saying.
Not every sector within farming has done well but the overall picture is positive, Bruns said. For example, the horticulture and tomato sectors have had a more difficult time of it and the egg industry also shows variable results, the researcher said.
