Dutchman holidaying in Red Sea resort stabbed 25 times
A Dutch national was stabbed 25 times during a robbery at an Egyptian resort on December 31, the Parool reports on Tuesday.
The paper says the 53-year-old man appeared to be the victim of a mugging and his laptop, money and gold jewellery was stolen. He was staying at a holiday villa in the seaside town of Hurghada and may have been married to an Egyptian woman, the Parool says.
The official Dutch travel advice for Egypt recommends against all but essential travel but says travel is still possible to the Red Sea resorts, where holiday-makers should be extra vigilent.
Two Swiss nationals were also murdered in Hurghada earlier in the week, the paper says. Two people have been arrested in connection with that case.
