Average retirement age rises to almost 64
The average retirement age rose again to 63.9 years in 2013, an increase of 0.3 percentage point on 2012, the national statistics office CBS said on Wednesday.
Nevertheless, over half of the working population still stop working before they turn 65, the CBS figures show. The state pension age is currently 65 and two months and is rising to 67 over the next few years.
In 2006, the average retirement age was 61 but has been rising steadily since then. Just 6% of workers now retire before they reach the age of 60.
